When using cruise control, none of the gas saving functions on the car can operate (It is probably like that for all hybrids, I don't know), but that means on the highway the gas mileage is only 25 mpg. That said, that powertrain has it hands full managing such a heavy vehicle. That, though, is certain to change. It’s in back that things are a little pricklier, however. The version of choice for us is clearly the GT, which offers quite a bit more bang for a little bit more buck. There’s just a lot more standard equipment and safety features in it. This is not an environment that feels confining – in some respects it feels almost, dare I say it, minivan-like. All controls are logically laid out and right under your fingertips. There's things I like, and things I don't, by JibiJab Access them anywhere. The trim around the sun roof doesn't hold the head line up and I had to glue it in place. Already, folks can opt for the hybrid version of the immensely popular new Toyota RAV4, or, if they’re willing to scale down in size, take a look at the Kia Niro plug-in hybrid crossover. Wish they had a place for putting my sun glasses and my phone, lots of wasted space where small items could have been stored.
