RJ moved to Hollywood from Louisiana with his family in 2006 to support his sister's acting career and took to acting classes as a way to meet people. Mitte appeared on the cover of the February/March 2015 issue of Neurology Now (published by the American Academy of Neurology). A year later, Mitte ditched his Breaking Bad crutches to play the wheelchair-bound do-gooder Campbell on the ABC Family series Switched at Birth, and has continued to portray characters with disabilities in the years since. They sought acting opportunities where his disability would serve to educate viewers, which led him to audition for the role in Breaking Bad. Walter Jr.'s Cerebral Palsy on the show was embellished, meaning RJ had to learn how to walk on crutches and slur his speech to create a more dramatic version of his own disability. At the young age of three, Louisiana native Mitte was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, though that has never deterred his drive to succeed in television, film & fashion. If they ask me to do something I just do it and get it out of the way. Those noble endeavors are just part of what Mitte's been doing since Breaking Bad ended. Best known as Walter "Flynn" White Jr for five riveting seasons of AMC's Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning dramatic thriller "Breaking Bad," Mitte, reemerged this year on the big screen in "Dixieland," which premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival, portraying the deceptive CJ, in his first non-handicapped leading role. RJ Mitte, Actor: Breaking Bad. Only 1 left in stock - order soon. As Walter continued his descent into drug manufacturing and trade, Walt Jr. finds himself torn between his father's deceit, his mother's protectiveness, and his own developing sense of independence. By the time he turned 13, he had become financially responsible for his family and would often take up multiple jobs to earn a steady income. Mitte has a less severe case of the disorder — he hasn't needed to use crutches (like Walter Jr., who also had cerebral palsy, used on the series) or any walking devices since he was a teenager. Here's hoping Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is keeping in touch, 'cause Walter Jr. is one of those characters that could easily carry a bold new storyline in the ever-expanding Breaking Bad Cinematic Universe.
