No half-day camper may attend both AM and PM sessions during the same week, as the AM and PM curricula are the same. All campers must make their own arrangements for transportation to/from the Zoo. Summer Zoo Camp has been enjoyed by campers for over 25 summers! This decision was made with the goal of protecting the safety, health and wellness of campers, staff, and families. We are excited to introduce new Zoo Camps at the Birmingham Zoo! This was a difficult decision knowing the disappointment this will cause our campers, staff and volunteers looking forward to their camp experience. Calling all explorers, adventurers, question-askers, budding scientists and problem solvers! No refunds will be issued once a ticket is purchased. From cleaning to feeding, training to behavioral enrichment, campers will experience the rewards and challenges of this most popular job at the Zoo. All camp curricula are designed based on Colorado Academic Standards with specific activities appropriate for each developmental stage. Camp activities reinforce the importance of respecting the places we live, the resources we need to survive and the living creatures which we share our environment. Since our summer program will look very different this year, we've decided to re-brand the program as "Zoo Play!" This was a difficult decision knowing the disappointment this will cause our campers, staff and volunteers looking forward to their camp experience. Each week-long session is filled with up-close animal encounters, behind-the-scenes experiences, hands-on activities, games, in-depth investigations and organized free time. Maybe their design will be inspiration for a new or redesigned Phoenix Zoo exhibit! Campers interested in food, shopping, math, anatomy, writing, computers, education, marketing, and more, may find there’s a job at the Zoo that’s perfect for them. No camper is allowed to be enrolled for more than one week of a camp with the same title. Zoo Camps.
